DARED TO PLUCK A COCONUT

Very tempting and pretty yellowish they all stood
As I watched from my doorpost where I sat
How can I pluck one absent Mrs E’s knowledge?
Plucking is prohibited
Only unless you dared!

Up, up I stoned a bunch
Utterly my stone returned as if in anger
The battle is not over yet, I smiled
Until I am blessed with one

Up, up again I stoned
My stone returned almost crushing me
The battle is not over yet, I laughed
Until I am blessed with one

Aha! I’ve got you, I danced
As a giant one fell
By the use of a longish stick
Still conscious of Mrs E’s absence
Hurriedly, I peeled it
And next it was ready for serve

Hurriedly, I drank its juice like a thirsty leech
First, to quench my thirst

Mama is on her way, the maid said
I still wonder in my confused state
How I kept clean of my crime
When Mrs E arrived
What I remembered though
Is the uncontrollable laughter of the maid
During my tidying
